The southern end of the park (oval two) is an off-leash area which is 150m square in size.
The northern end of McKinnon Reserve, including the playground and main oval closest to McKinnon Road, is an on-leash area.
There is a fence with a few gaps dividing the oval from the car park across the middle of the reserve. The off-leash oval has some trees around the borders and a water tap with bowl and bin near the pavilion next to the car park.
