Campbells Cove Beach Dog Off Leash Area

Campbells Cove is a south-east facing section of low coast, located at the end of Cunninghams Road and backed by the rough Campbells Cove Road, which runs along the 5 m high basalt bluffs. Numerous fishing shacks back and, in some cases overhang, the beaches, many fronted by small jetties and slipways.

The beach has a least hazardous rating of 1/10.

Review:

To get to the northern beach, where the dog off leash area is located, head along Campbells Cove Road towards the north east past a long row of colourful huts from Cunningham's Road. The main beach comprises a 200m long thin strip of sand backed by vegetation. The foreshore is piled high with shells and sea-weed and isn't very attractive, especially on hot days when it could get smelly.

The water was fairly shallow. In the past this beach was clothing optional but that is no longer the case. The east end has a creek and fence to stop access to Department of Defence land.

Access for Dogs:

Dogs are allowed on the main beach on leash. However, Campbell's Cove Beach foreshore from the eastern edge of the car park at the end of the boat sheds to the boundary fence of the Point Cook RAAF base is a dog off leash area.
