The reserve, about 170m long and 50m wide, is set in quite an isolated area and backs onto Balcombe Creek.

There is a picnic table and bin provided near the entrance of the reserve but no water tap.

In the middle of the reserve is a drainage outlet which empties into a large depression with reeds and long grass. This could be snake habitat during summer.

The area at the back of the reserve near the creek is thickly wooded and is an on-leash area.

The dog from the neighbouring property was able to get through the fence into the reserve but he was very friendly.

The 'Bee Hotel', which celebrates the bee increases the interest factor and there is also an arrangement of logs and rocks to provide some shaded seating.

An Information board about the Bee Hotel reads 'Bee Hotel - Native bees really need our help. There are fewer bees in our gardens due to pesticides and lack of habitat. Bees are vital for cross-pollination of flowers, fruit trees and vegetable crops.

This Bee Hotel was created as an intergenerational project by various members of our community, ranging from members of the men's shed, to local pre-school and school aged young people who collaborated with environmental groups in order to help re-introduce these often unknown pollinators back into our environment. This structure will positively assist the natural ecosystem by providing a safe nesting place for these beneficial bugs to lay their young and is complimented by the under planting of pollen laden plants. We aim to raise community awareness whilst helping to re-populate the Australian solitary native bee numbers of some of the 1600 species that are non-aggressive and virtually stingless.'
