the dog off leash area applies from the Canadian Bay Yacht Club west for a distance of 250 metres to the nearest western headland.
Half Moon Bay consists of over 200 m of high tide, sandy beach, which sweeps in three small arcs below the red bluffs and between more prominent reefs. There is good access and parking.
Access - The Canadian Bay Road is used for access to both Canadian Bay beach and Half Moon Bay beach. Beside the carpark at the west end of Canadian Bay Road is a picnic area with six picnic tables, water tap and toilets.
A path with wooden steps at the end leads down to the beach. The beach is backed by cliffs and the beach is fairly narrow with rocks and concrete scattered about. At the south end the water and the beach becomes very rocky which could be a good area to explore rock pools when the tide is out.
