South of the main Lorne beach is a series of beaches which are timeshare. The 1.4km long off leash area extends from near Beal Street in the north to Hird Street in the south. The timeshare zone is active from 1 Dec to 28 Feb and over Easter. During this timeshare period no dogs are allowed from 9am-7pm (except on defined paths and on a leash). From 7pm-9am dogs are allowed in these areas off-leash but under effective control.
Outside the active timeshare zone dates dogs are allowed off leash but under effective control. Dogs are prohibited from the Lorne Pier.
