A temporary fenced, off-leash dog area was created at William Street Reserve in October 2023 while the sportsground surface was renewed. The secured area helped local dogs (and their owners) exercise and socialise more safely while the sportsground was closed.
After the sportsground reopened in November 2024, the secure dog off-leash area was extended for another year. The fencing was upgraded and granitic sand laid to help spot dog poo more easily and to help to alleviate mud through the wetter months.
The renewed oval does not have enclosed fencing. By retaining the secure off-leash area, dog owners will continue to have the option of a fenced exercise area. This may also help to reduce pressure on the renewed surface.
In the south west corner is a playground and basketball court. On the east side is a bin, unshaded seat and water tap with bowl. On the west side is a pavilion with toilets, bin and another water tap with bowl.
