The large grassy open park runs beside the Hunter River for 700m which includes some sports ovals. As well as having ample space for dogs to run around, there is a small dog friendly beach located near the Port Hunter 16ft Sailing Skiff Club. At the southern end there is a bin. Within the Newcastle council area dogs are only permitted off leash between sunrise and sunset.
