Shelley Beach Dog Off Leash Area
3584 Point Nepean Road,
Portsea VIC,
3944
Shelley Beach is a 1.2 km protected beach with limited public access and facilities.
Shelly Beach and Point Macarthur Beach lie between the 20 m high bluffs of Point Franklin and Point King, with Point Macarthur forming the eastern boundary. The Nepean Highway parallels the beach and houses sit on top of the bluffs behind the beach.
For access, at the end of Hemston Avenue go to the west for Shelly Beach and to the east to Point MacArthur Beach. There is a fairly small car park and quite a walk down the cliff to the beach.
This beach merges into Point MacArthur beach to the east. Shelly Beach is a moderately wide beach which is backed by flat dunes and cliff. The beach extends a long way to the west where there are private piers, some beach huts and a headland which restricts access along the beach. There is a walking path at the end of Franklin Road which provides access to the west end.
The dog off leash area is the whole beach between Franklin Road and Hemston Avenue.
