Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round. When the tide is in there is a fairly narrow strip of sandy beach but when the tide is out there are huge expanses of wet sand to run across. The water is always quite shallow. Having such a nice beach for dogs all year round is a real gem.
The beach is located just north of the Altona Sports Club and just south of the Pines Scout Camp where there is lots of parking. There is a fenced dog off-leash area at the P A Burns Reserve which is next to the beach.
