Sandgate Dog beach is located on the north eastern edge of Brisbane on the shores of Moreton Bay. The off-leash area extends for about 1km along the shore from near the corner of Flinders Parade and Second Avenue in Sandgate (northern boundary) to near the corner of Eagle Terrace and Zeehan Street in Shorncliffe (southern boundary). The beach is actually a large expanse of mudflats with a number of staircases down to the beach. The best time to visit is around low tide when there is a huge area to run around in. The beach becomes less accessible at high tide. Make sure you bring a towel because a clean-up will be necessary afterwards. It is a dog off leash area at all times. The beach areas north and south of this area are dog on-leash areas. There are bins at various points, a lack of shaded seating and plenty of parking.
