Time Restrictions

The Spit is located on the eastern side of Ballina, just south of the Missingham Bridge and beside Missingham Bridge which has a playground. Dogs are allowed off-leash on the popular sandy saltwater river beach and sand bar. The beach is mostly flat and calm with large shallow sections, making it ideal for dogs to run, play, and splash around. Please keep your dog well away from shorebirds and use a leash during nesting season (spring and summer).
